Le Bistro de L'Olivier

Le Bistro L'Olivier looks like a classic French bistro, the environment is surprisingly cozy and comfy. A dining lunch experienced, we did try some of their best on ala carte style. The homemade foie gras was lovely, I love the salad. Desserts are excellent too! Especially creme brulee, souffle and warm chocolate cake, the mixed mushrooms with truffles soup it was tasty.  but when it comes to the main course not so excellent, the Beef fillet and red wine cream sauce is horrible! the violet color of the sauce it didn't match on the appearance and elegance presentation of the steak. The Normandy style baked duck breast with porto sauce a little bit sweet. And King prawns with saffron creamy sauce served with couscous it was great. Maggie offer only 2 kinds of meal in the set menu on that day. So weren't aware about the price, the 20 kinds of dishes including the 2 coffee and my kids drinks. And the overall cost of the meal is more than NT$10,300 included the service charge after signed on my credit card a little bit expensive, specially for those poor people like us. So if you are on budget do not eat here! And try the "Flavors"Swedish Restaurant, specially their main entree is very delicious and appetizing. And not so expensive if we compare to Maggie, Le Bistro L'Olivier french cuisine.

Indeed very expensive I had 5 kinds of meal include 1 pieces of bread and water it cost me 1,700 Taiwan dollars. Why people like to come here. Maybe Maggie she doesnt know it has a lot of restaurants in Taipei offer a delicious meals than her menu. And then the ICRT introduced this restaurant, very fine foods with sophisticated cook Maggie itself. Avoid like plague, pestilence and famine rolled into one. Try Les Sens too!

The presentation is excellent but the meals are just average if we compare to authentic french cuisine the desserts is heavenly delicious. But there are more french shops can do the best meals in affordable price but reasonable too than Le Bistro. The price already to high for Taiwanese we are not a HK people to make the price so high. But Le Sens still the best for me than Le Bistro.

We have the same experienced here. Since they offer a french food so we give it try on my father birthday and my parents are really disappointed for the main course and the pasta I have is quite average I can have a good pasta in other italian restaurant. The dessert was fine but nothing special in it. I can have a good desserts too in other places. Not a good place to eat for french gourmet. If you are looking for a very authentic french cuisine try Le Jardin in Tien mu or Savuers for inexpensive one.

I will rate this place from 1-5. Appetizer rate-2; Soup rate-3; Entree rate-1 not delicious; Dessert rate-3; Ambience rate-1 very small room; Price rate-1 very expensive; Service rate-5. Overall its not worth to watch Maggie at TLC hehe the food was average sometimes very bland.
