Salon de The Chinois Galeries Lafayette Paris France

Salon de The Chinois is in the 6th floor of Galeries Lafayette Paris. We've been crabbing about the western food in Paris and most of it really is pretty disappointing. Unexpectedly we really missed the asean food for the past few days. And found this place on the 6th floor of Lafayette not only can enjoy a luxurious shopping destination. This place it may have zero decor but it's been buzzing around in Lafayette food circle. We knew right then that the restaurant would either be terrific.
We started our meal was a dish of stir-fry beef with carmelized onion in black pepper sauce, nothing out of the ordinary, and a tiny bit bland.
The sweet and sour pork it was well cooked and the coating crunchy and well flavoured and I thought that it was too sour.
We were expecting for the steamed chicken, when it came was a crispy flattened lightly battered chicken in vinegar, soy sauce, chili peppers, and spring onions. Just like you are eating a piece of xiang ji pai.
The wanton soup had a good amount of big and tasty wontons. Broth was pretty bland though.
We also had a fried pork dumpling I prefer them steamed as frying can make them heavy and greasy. It is best paired with sliced ginger in black vinegar sauce to enhance its taste.
We ordered two soups 'hot and sour soup' was perfectly cooked. It was spicy overpowered in black vinegar, which I love! It also had pieces of intestine which added texture to the amazing soup.
There is something with this dish that makes me go crazy. The tofu and the minced pork in the very spicy sauce. I was looking forward to the dish’s spicy salty sweetness light meaty tofu slinkiness. But instead the sauce was just flavorless not as good as the mapo tofu in Taiwan, we didn't touch it at all.
These braised eggplant and with pieces minced pork and mixed with spices in some sort of sweet or honey-garlic sauce. It was very tender one of our favourite item we had.
These were steamed pork dumplings was made up of some very watery wrap. Thou it wasn't fresh but at the end that we did not like it. The service was pretty quick and promptly, we were not blown away by the food we had. However, the place is also literally packed of customer and were busy.
